Bio

Steve is an experienced advocate for racial equity and environmental justice, and a passionate activist for underserved communities. He previously was California Director for the Vet Voice Foundation, using the voices of 60,000 veterans, military and family members to advocate for environmental justice, conservation of public lands and a host of issues across the state. Prior to this, Steve served as a political appointee in the Obama Administration, completing assignments at the U.S Departments of Energy, Defense and the White House. Steve is a veteran of the Air National Guard, having completed tours in Iraq, managing over $4 million dollars for infrastructure and sustainability projects. Steve brings grant-writing and operational experience that will help us in the year ahead. He is a political science graduate of Kent State University. He also has previously worked with students at UCLA on outreach! A native of Detroit, Michigan, Steve is a member of the Sierra Club, the Black Veterans Association and serves on the Young Professionals Committee of the LGBT Center.
