La Kretz Fellowship Seminar: Ellie Bolas
Bridging the gaps: Evaluating wildlife use of crossings for ecological connectivity
-
Join us on Wednesday, November 12th for a special EEB seminar co-sponsored by the La Kretz Center for California Conservation Science. Visiting Ph.D. candidate at UC Davis, Ellie Bolas, as they present on their research proposal for the 2026 La Kretz Center Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Bridging the gaps: Evaluating wildlife use of crossings for ecological connectivity
Ellie Bolas studies how human-altered landscapes affect animal movement, habitat use, and species interactions to guide conservation efforts. Her dissertation explores how urbanization, recreation, and wildfire shape predator–prey dynamics between mountain lions and mule deer in Los Angeles. Her proposed La Kretz Center Fellowship project expands this work by examining how wildlife crossings can better restore ecological connectivity in southern California and beyond.
