Noam Rosenthal Kellogg-Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Challenge finalist

UCLA Institute of Environment and Sustainability PhD student Noam Rosenthal and Anderson students Hadley Stork  and Jonathan Tenenbaum were selected as finalists to compete in the Kellogg-Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Challenge. The team was selected as one of 12 finalists from 109 submissions worldwide to present their project in Hong Kong on April 12, 2019. 

The Kellogg-Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Challenge seeks to identify outstanding proposals offering novel investment strategies to meet some of the most pressing global challenges ahead.

The project is called “Utility Wildfire Resilience Bonds,” and proposes the following investment thesis: With increasing risk of wildfires, and more frequent use of de-energization to prevent electrical ignitions, companies will face increasing risk of business disruption and accordingly increasingly value grid resilience.
