Research Intersts

My interests focus broadly on the Biodiversity Conservation through birds. I work as a Wildlife Consultant Ecologist. I have been conducting bird surveys and proposing management plans for many protected areas in Cameroon. I have also been working as field researcher on Broob-parasitic Finches and their hosts in Cameroon, in collaboration with Boston University. Finally, I am the representative of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife of Cameroon, for research and conservation of Parrots in the country.

Current Research Projects

Evolutionary Biology

As a PhD Graduate from the University of Yaounde I, I am working on the “genetic and morphological variations in eight African rain forest passerine birds across the Dahomey-gap”.

The Dahomey-Gap may induce a break in gene flow of many avian species. For some of these species, the break may be old enough to permit species differentiations on either side of the gap.

My actual study intends to test evolutionary divergence in the following African passerine birds species: Andropadus latirostris, Ixonotus guttatus, Criniger calurus, Cisticola galactotes, Hylia prasina and Estrilda astrild. Considering that each of them derived from the same basic population, we will study the relative variations in the genetical and morphological structures of their populations from the two sides of the Gap (Cameroon and Ghana).
