VSTEM Winter 2026 Workshops
Veterans in STEM (VSTEM) are hosting hybrid workshops this quarter on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 4pm – 5pm PT. VSTEM’s focuses on supporting veterans & people who are veteran-affiliated (dependents and spouses). However, these events are open to all CDLS Fellows & community members.

Literature Review Pt. 1: Reading Articles and Note-Taking
Date: Wednesday, February 4th, 2026 (5th Week)
Time: 4pm – 5pm PT
Description: This workshop will focus on strategies for efficiently reading scientific articles and taking effective notes.
Resume Workshop
Date: Thursday, February 12th, 2026 (6th Week)
Time: 4pm – 5pm PT
Description: Receive constructive feedback on your resume from experienced mentors. Learn how to effectively highlight your skills, experiences, and accomplishments to make your resume stand out to potential employers or graduate programs.
Literature Review Pt. 2: Source Selection and Organization
Date: Wednesday, February 18th, 2026 (7th Week)
Time: 4pm – 5pm PT
Description: This workshop will build on the skills learned in the first literature review session, focusing on selecting relevant sources and organizing them to support a cohesive research narrative.
Applying to Research Labs
Date: Thursday, February 26th, 2026 (8th Week)
Time: 4pm – 5pm PT
Description: This workshop will guide you in identifying and applying to research labs that align with your interests and goals. Learn how to craft a compelling application, communicate your qualifications effectively, and navigate the selection process.
Check-In – Finals
Date: Wednesday, March 11th, 2026 (10th Week)
Time: 4pm – 5pm PT
Description: Offer an informal, supportive space for students to bring their questions and challenges, engage in small group discussions, and receive one-on-one guidance from mentors.
