Here Comes the Drop

If there is one word that perfectly describes life right now, it has to be “chaos”. I think it is fair to say that this applies to all of us here at SAR’s Resilience Team, as go time has arrived rather abruptly. All of us have other extra-curricular responsibilities/obligations aside from the demands of SAR – on top of school work mind you. However, I have to admit, it is these extraordinary moments of “chaos” that provide the most room for growth and the most opportunity for accomplishment. That being said, let me bring you up to speed on the happenings.

To all of our fans and loyal followers, I’m sure you know about our storm water capture system project. But for any newcomers to this beautiful online space, Resilience Team has been hard at work trying to implement a storm water capture system in Parking Structure 9. You can read about our progress in our previous posts, but there is something I would like to return to here. The baddest, most sustainable four letter assortment you ever heard or saw… TGIF. The Green Initiative Fund, also known as Resilience Team’s life line because we need money, will cease accepting applications burdened by the weight of young, magnificent dreams TOMMORROW. So, these past few weeks we have been scrambling to put together a solid and inspiring application. There were some issues with the budget being too large, but we managed to cut down cost significantly and are now considering a spark campaign. Which is like a more legitimate GoFund Me campaign and it is through the University itself. At the end of the day, we have produced a flexible budget, our objective is clear and feasible, and our project will be providing a great service to this University.

I can honestly say that what we have put together is something that I can be proud of. It is important to note that we could not have come this far without the help of Nurit Katz, Tom Lukas, Bonnie Bentzin, and our directors Austin Park and Mochi Li. No matter the outcome, this roller coaster ride will be one for the books. Hopefully good news will be gracing our ears and your eyes in the near future.
