Join our team as Research assistant in plant-animal interaction for the Ebony Project
Are you a Cameroonian citizen and looking for a position in ecology and conservation? The Ebony Project is hiring a Research Assistant to support tropical forest restoration and community-based conservation in Cameroon.
Since 2016, the Ebony Project has combined science, sustainability, and community engagement to grow ebony and native fruit trees while improving livelihoods in southern Cameroon. Now, with support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF 7), we’re scaling up to test new restoration strategies that reconnect fragmented forests, support biodiversity, and empower local communities.
We seek a Research Assistant to join our interdisciplinary research team based in Cameroon to contribute to the next phase of the project under GEF 7 funding. The successful candidate will have field and analytical expertise in tropical forest ecology, seed dispersal, conservation, and rural livelihoods.
This full-time, two-year position is ideal for early-career professionals with PhD and expertise in tropical ecology, seed dispersal, and rural livelihoods.
The work site will be Yaoundé, Cameroon with frequent and extended trips to remote field sites in Cameroon for data collection. The GEF 7 Research Assistant will work closely with project partners in Cameroon and the broader Congo Basin. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience
