UCLA climate scientist Daniel Swain discusses the upcoming atmospheric river and its potential impacts on Southern California for LAist. Swain mentions that a strong storm will be “galloping straight for Central & Southern California,” bringing more than 6 inches of rain over two weeks with significant flooding possibilities. Temperatures are anticipated to remain warm initially, followed by stormy conditions until mid-February. Heavy storm activity is expected to be not limited to the Southland, as other areas like British Columbia, Washington state, and Baja are also expected to experience heavy flooding.
