Daniel Swain in SF Gate: Quail Fire near Winters 40% contained, evacuations lifted

The Quail Fire has destroyed three buildings and about 1,400 acres of vegetation in rural Solano County between Vacaville and Winters as of 8:30 a.m. Sunday, June 7 Cal Fire said. It’s 10% contained. “This is a surprisingly fast-moving and dangerous fire for this early in the season in this part of the state,” wrote UCLA climate scientist Daniel Swain on Twitter. “Currently being driven by strong westerly (i.e., *not* offshore) winds, although humidity not particularly low.”
