A discussion on Community Science: Navigating Environmental Justice in Academia, Community Orgs, & Non-Profits

All of us at the Center for Diverse Leadership in Science are pleased to welcome back Dr. Brandon Hunter as our guest speaker at UCLA this Monday, May 22, 2023 from 2pm-6pm PDT.

We invite you, virtually or in person, to have a candid discussion with Dr. Hunter about Community Science: Navigating Environmental Justice in Academia, Community Orgs, & Non-Profits from 2-4pm PDT. There will also be an opportunity to mingle from 4pm-6pm PDT with light refreshments. Masking is optional although strongly recommended indoors.

Dr. Brandon Hunter is an environmental scientist, a scholastic researcher, a state-certified infrastructure design engineer, a community-based technical service provider, and a professional technical consultant. Dr. Hunter has developed a career by leveraging his technical skillsets to support and advance self-determined community-centered advocacy towards environmental equity. He currently works full-time as a Community Scientist for the Natural Resources Defense Council and has appointments as an Environmental Justice Fellow at the Center for Rural Enterprise & Environmental Justice and as an Early Career Fellow at UCLA’s Center for Diverse Leadership in Science.

Brandon looks forward to meeting students, faculty, and staff and having a candid discussion about community-based science in academia and beyond.
