Freeway pollution travels farther than we thought. Here’s how to protect yourself

“We’re learning that the pollution you breathe comes down to where you are, when you’re there and what the traffic is like,” said Suzanne Paulson, IoES faculty member, to the LA Times. Distance from freeways is not the only factor that matters-  wind patterns, freeway design, the time of day and the types of cars, trucks and buildings around you also determine the risk.
