Daniel Swain for Washington Post — Massive waves slam California, with more expected Saturday

In a new Washington Post article, UCLA climate scientist Daniel Swain discusses massive waves that slammed California’s coast in late December 2023, exploring how rising sea levels and El Niño may have been the cause. Higher sea surface heights right now, possibly due to the ongoing strong El Niño, may also be a partial cause, Swain said.
