Clara Wilch researches cultural negotiations of climate change. Her dissertation focuses on co-performances between humans and ice (“icescapes”) set in the American Arctic and Subarctic with attention to racial capitalism and gender. Before pursuing her doctorate in performance studies, her professional experiences included biological research and NYC theater-making; through her scholarship and involvement in projects like LENS, she strives to weave together creative, critical methods from art, humanities, and science disciplines to help re-conceive and address vital concerns of environmental and multi-species justice. Her writing has appeared in Performance Research, Theatre Survey, and JADT, and she acted as an assistant editor for Theatre Journal.

Grand Theft Eco: Environmental Futures of Los Angeles is a creative film project that repurposes the game engine and design of the video game Grand Theft Auto V to explore possible eco-futures of Los Angeles in the year 2050.
