Smadar Gilboa joined the IoES in April 2023. Since starting at UCLA in 1996, she has been a Postdoctoral fellow in EEB, a program manager for the NSF GK-12 program, California Teach, and the UCLA Science Learning Center in Chem & Biochem. Before taking the CAO position in IoES, Smadar was the administrative manager of the Physical Sciences IT Services Department. During the pandemic, she helped short-staffed departments in the division with various administrative tasks, thus acquiring a diversity of skills and establishing a broad contact network across UCLA.
Smadar earned her Ph.D. in Entomology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She enjoys hiking, bird watching, traveling, genealogy, & exploring LA’s rich culinary landscape.
