As Administrative Officer for the IoES, Susan Holcomb provides operational support and guidance for faculty, researchers, and staff at both the UCLA campus and the White Mountain Research Center in Bishop, CA.

Originally from the east coast, Susan has always been engaged by nature – her first volunteer experience was during high school, where she led classes for elementary school students focusing on the ecology of the Saugatuck River. Her subsequent path led her to study art at Sarah Lawrence College, followed by a stint at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. As an artist, she has exhibited widely in both solo and group shows, and her work is included in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Her administrative goal is to assist IoES researchers, faculty, and leadership to the greatest extent possible so they can tackle our most pressing environmental problems unencumbered by the usual plethora of bureaucratic issues.

When not at UCLA, Susan runs a small non-profit organization that helps Los Angeles County shelter animals (www.friendsofshelteranimals.org).
