Pollinator interaction at shared floral resources at Stunt Ranch Reserve

In collaboration with the UC Riverside Macrosystems project, Dr. Jenny Hazlehurst is studying how different pollinator species, especially hummingbirds and bees, interact at shared floral resources. She uses DNA metabarcoding techniques in combination with direct observations to determine what plants these pollinators have been feeding on. Stunt Ranch Reserve is an ideal field site for her to do her research, as it is a stopover site for migratory hummingbirds like the Rufous hummingbird, as well as home to resident hummingbird and native bee populations.
