Dr. Longcore is an associate adjunct professor at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability and conducts research on the conservation of biodiversity in cities. He has taught at Sage Hill and has been heavily involved with the site, even as a graduate student. Dr. Longcore conducted a biological assessment of the flora and fauna of the site in 1997. The report includes information on the landforms and soils, vegetation survey, history, mammals, avifauna, herpetofauna, arthropods and other terrestrial invertebrates, and butterflies. Dr. Longcore helped establish the Facebook page for Sage Hill, which includes an archive of images of the site. He taught biology and geography courses, including World Vegetation 108.
