Sage Hill Spotlight: Thomas Wake

Professor Thomas Wake is in the Department of Anthropology and is significantly involved with Sage Hill. He sounded the alarm to protect Sage Hill nearly 15 years ago and promotes using the site to enhance native terrain. Not only is he on the Chancellor’s Committee for Sage Hill, Professor Wake also helped move a massive water tank that was on the site which was providing no benefits and disrupting the native plants nearby. He uses plants in experiments and demonstrations for his courses. He caught, studied, and released many reptiles and amphibians at Sage Hill. He plans to teach courses at Sage Hill in the future and wants to continue using samples — yuca, sage, acorns — taken from the site to show his students.
