Film Screening: Chasing Coral

Chasing Coral is a ninety-minute ocean adventure film.

View a free screening of Netflix’s new film Chasing Coral in the Aquarium’s Ocean Theater followed by a panel discussion with scientists.

It reveals the story of a team of photographers, scientists, and other experts who discover and try to capture one of the world’s largest coral bleaching events. It took 3.5 years to make and features over 500 hours of underwater footage with submissions from over thirty countries.

Following the screening, the Aquarium will host a panel discussion on the film and coral reef conservation with scientists Robert Eagle and Sandy Trautwein. Aquarium President and CEO Jerry Schubel will moderate the discussion. Eagle is an assistant professor at the University of California, Los Angeles’ Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. Trautwein is the Aquarium’s curator of fish and invertebrates, interim vice president of animal husbandry, and an expert on coral propagation and reef restoration.
