Institute of the Environment and Sustainability

Post-fire recovery and community resilience

Hannah is a Ph.D. candidate at the UCLA Institute of Environment and Sustainability, where her research examines pathways to community-led, post-fire recovery in Los Angeles County. Her doctoral work explores how leaders from wildfire-impacted communities organize in the aftermath of disaster, and how the work intersects with the political and land-use dynamics that shape recovery. Her work aims to inform disaster recovery frameworks and policy planning that prioritize community voices and lived experiences.

Before joining IoES, Hannah obtained a B.S. in Physics with minors in Environmental Studies and Engineering Physics from University of San Francisco. She has contributed to various organizations, including the Southwest Climate Adaptation Science Center and the Sea Ice Prediction Network.
