Romain Wacziarg, Associate Professor of Economics, joined the Anderson School faculty in 2008. Previously, he taught at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. His research on the links between globalization and economic performance has been published in top academic journals such as the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the American Economic Review, the Journal of International Economics, and the Journal of Economic Growth. At Stanford, Professor Wacziarg taught several MBA courses including Strategy in the Business Environment, Business Ethics, and the PhD course Political Macroeconomics. At UCLA, he teaches the MBA core course Managerial Economics.

In addition to his research and teaching, Professor Wacziarg was the Edward Teller National Fellow at the Hoover Institution in 2002-2003. Outside UCLA, he is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), the world’s preeminent think tank for research in applied economics. He is also a faculty affiliate of the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), based in London, UK. In addition to his academic experience, Professor Wacziarg worked as a consultant for the World Bank and the French Ministry of Finance.

A citizen of France, born in Switzerland, raised in India and France, Professor Wacziarg moved to the United States in 1992. He is married to Magali Delmas, an Associate Professor at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability. They have two children.
