It’s been a big year for Glen MacDonald, the former IoES director and current head of our White Mountain Research Center. At the top of the list is one of the most prestigious science accolades in the United States – election to the National Academy of Sciences

Next up, recognizing his “exceptional contributions to Earth and space sciences” MacDonald was elected to the Class of 2015 Fellows of the American Geophysical Union. And last, but certainly not least, he’s the new President of the American Association of Geographers.

MacDonald, the John Muir Memorial Endowed Chair in Geography at UCLA, is an international authority on causes and impacts of climate change, along with water issues in western North America and other semi-arid regions.
