UCLA announces new Ph.D. program in environment and sustainability

Starting this fall, the IoES will offer a new graduate program to help students study and address important environmental challenges that require skills in multiple disciplines. Environment and sustainability problems addressed by the degree program include those related to: climate science, environmental science, mitigation and adaptation, ecosystem services and biodiversity, energy, food, water, air quality, public health, urban systems, earth system science, green business and manufacturing, consumption, international governance and development.

Solutions to these challenges can only be developed by acquiring and utilizing advanced methods and skills from multiple disciplines to conduct research. Students in the degree program will conduct interdisciplinary research, and engage in multidisciplinary coursework and faculty mentoring from the full range of UCLA departments associated with the IoES.

The program will begin accepting applications for admission in Fall 2017, for its first entering class of students beginning in Fall 2018.

Stay tuned for further details.
