LA 2050

A team of LENS-affiliated faculty and graduate students at UCLA has begun work on a creative film project that explores possible eco-futures for Los Angeles. Led by Professors Ursula K. Heise and Kristy Guevera-Flanagan, the team will write and produce three short animated films set in Los Angeles in 2050. The films will consider how a city impacted by climate change, wildfire, mutant viruses, habitat change, and animal behavior might adapt and transform, for better and worse. LENS is also partnering with the Instituto Mutante de Narrativas Ambientales (IMNA) at the Matadero Center for Contemporary Art in Madrid, Spain, which will produce three film narratives of its own about Madrid in 2050
